Don't give up on this blog. Internet connections are a little hard to come by, on the road like this. All is well and I have written lots and taken (literally) thousands of pictures - Marilyn has taken hundreds- and we'll find someplace soon. So we got into Stockholm last night and found a campground in town with cabins. It is a 10 minute walk to the subway and we went to Gamlestan - that is "old town" - with the palace and the changing of the guard. Of course there are lots of tourist trap shops but even a few worth going into. I don't think any one bought anything, but it was fun to look. Marilyn and I (we split up with the kids, but kept running into them as we rounded narrow street corners) found a "konfecjoneri" (just say it out loud, you too can speak Swedish or Norwegian) and amidst all the expensive restaurants we got a big baked potato with a creamy chicken sauce on it with salad and drinks for 70 swekroners. This place had character and was over 200 years old - the restaurant, not the potato. By the way, all other meals were 300+ kr or $45.
We took the subway back about 9 and Sarah & Rolf got in about 10 and K-P & Anders got back about mid-night. We leave soon for Timmernabben - the birthplace/home of Marilyn's mor-far.
By the way, again, these campgrounds are THE WAY TO GO! For about 200-300 kroners a night you can have a cabin - but you can sure pull a trailer or pitch a tent. Each is a little different but it is like "Thousand Trails". Plenty of things to do.
We are trying a little experiment this morning. I hope it works. Marilyn, Anders, Rolf & Sarah all went back into town to sightsee and shop. Karl-Peter slept in and here I sit at the computer. They are taking subway to a station south of town and we plan to meet them there - presumably to "save time". OK, it was my idea. We'll see if it works.
Be sure to check in again, soon as I will fill in those lost, past days and add a little more here.
